A resident of Minnesota and owner of a cabin in northern Wisconsin, I'm a big fan of ice fishing. Winter is long, and - to be real - outdoor options are limited. Ice fishing adds some fun!
Better Flags
As I improved my ice fishing know-how, I wanted to elevate my ice-fishing game, including improved fishing gear. My journey started with tip-up flags. I wanted something that was easily visible on the ice - in any sort of condition. Time searching the web proved to be a fruitless, so I decided to create something on my own. After experimenting with a variety of prototypes, I settled on a high-vis orange flag framed with a silver reflective border.
Simply put, these flags visually POP on the ice. The high-vis orange stands out from dawn to dusk. The reflective silver border jumps out at night. Near or far, these flags catch the eye.

Bottom line - these flags are a game changer!
Reflectors
There's nothing quite like seeing a t-bar spin as you approach a tip-up flag. My next quest was coming up with a way to see the bar spinning during the night bite.
The concept of reflective stickers came pretty easily. Finding a way to make it work was another story. I experimented with all sorts of sticker brands, shapes, and sizes. Time and time again, they peeled free from the t-bar. I tried tape over the top of the stickers to hold them in place. Still, they peeled free. Finally, after more time and effort than I care to admit, I found a solution that worked. What a thrill it is to see the t-bar sparkle and spin - day AND night!
